Why is gay marriage necessarily bad?

i currently support gay marriage because i don't believe in taking away rights from someone because of how they are. But, i'd like to know why there are people who think it is wrong, and i don't want answers as simple as "religion", i want answers with an explanation. And your standpoint on the issue...
