Can I lose weight walking 5 miles a day?

First of all, you're definitely not that big. Then anything can help you lose weight, walking 5 miles is a lot and you will definitely burn some calories. So yes this will help you lose weight, uming you're eating and drinking correctly too (No cokes, I've watched my sister drop coke and she lost 15 pounds)
