How to kill big roaches.?

My bathroom closet is becoming a nightmare to open. There is a hole in the drywall from my husband fixing some pipes in the wall . He doesn't want to fix it because it could happen again. Well anyway I have huge pecan trees in the back yard and these darn roaches are coming into the house from those trees. They are only in the bathroom closet but every time I open the door I see one. I want to kill them without stinking up the house with raid, Son is very allergic to any kind of bug spray chemicals. Does anybody have some home recipes of disaster for these icky creatures? I want them gone!!!!! LOL.
