Are politicians looking towards Machusetts for health care reform?
Up here in Machusetts health care reform is going to tackle the cost of health care. One way we are doing it in Machusetts is insurance companies are paying doctors up front in bulk for treatment of each patient. If the doctor stays within the dollar amount the doctor will receive a nice bonus. If not, the doctor loses the bonus. This has been lowering costs in Machusetts in the hospitals that use this method and Blue Cross/Blue Shield is the only insurance company to approach health care this way. More are going to start using this method. Apparently, this takes away from useless tests and procedures that creates waste in our current health care system. The national health care reform that was recently ped, in part was modeled after the Machusetts reform. Since the current national reform recently passed doesn't approach costs efficiently , are politicians awaiting the outcome of the new payment system being tried in Massachusetts? It's apparent the new health care reform passed by Obama will be repealed and a new system adopted. Do you think the new payment approach will be supported by Republicans. Doctors are excited about this new approach and more seem to be joining in. Is this something the nation could support?
